Fishing village

The main road from Chichester runs through the villages of Hunston and Siddlesham down the Manhood Penninsula, ending at the car park on the pebble beach.

It can go no further.

Selsey is a fishing village that is internationally famous for its seafood,  one of the last remaining towns on the South Coast where the fishing boats can be seen bringing their catch to shore.

Having established reputation over time, the demand for Selsey’s crab, lobster and whelks has grown exponentially . The catch is exported to France, Portugal and Spain. As well as the Asian markets where there is a big demand for Selsey’s fresh seafood, crab, lobsters  and cuttlefish. An industry that supports local  fishing families many of which can trace their fishing history back to the 16th Century.
